Let me start with describing my immediate feelings after tonights game:
It's tough to be a Mavs fan these days.
It's tough to watch your team, the team you've grown up with, a team that has shown so much promise and so much success, struggle.
It's tough to be constantly reminded of the past, the one and done's, and the choke job in the 06 Finals.
It's tough to hear friends, family, and media members discredit the Mavs for these reasons.
It's tough, in a season that no one was expecting much in, to have the Mav's make it all the way to the Finals, only to be forced to face the Big, Bad, Heat.
It's tough to lose game 1 and watch countless individuals jump off the bandwagon.
And it's tough to watch D-Wade and Lebron dance in front of our bench with 7:30 left in the 4th after hitting a huge, dagger like three.
But games like tonight make all that worth it. They make taking all the criticism, all the nay-saying, all the ups and downs, all the heartache that Mav's fans go through worth it.
That is why we watch sports. For some of us (and I will drag you into this G), it's much more than a game. It embodies everything we have been taught growing up. The good guy is supposed to win, and the bad guy loses. Working as a team is better than an individual. And cockiness and trash talk to get you far in life: it's about results, and what you can do when your number is being called, when the pressures on, and all eyes are on you. This is why this Mavs season is so special to me, and why this game in particular means so much. Just like a Disney movie, the good guys found a way to win, after being beat up and pushed around all game. They found a way to do it. And it feels so good.
More Game 2 breakdown tomorrow, as well as how important Game 3 now becomes....Stay tuned....
